Israeli Roadmap in the Horn of Africa

The Israeli orientation towards the countries of the Horn of Africa is consistent with Israel's awareness of the importance of the African continent. Africa is geographically large, rich in natural resources, and is considered a strategic depth for the Arab region. Therefore, Tel Aviv seeks to penetrate the countries of the Horn at the security and economic levels. As a result, bilateral relations between Israel and African countries are constantly improving and subject to multiple considerations, starting with opening new channels to strengthen trade and economic relations in the fields of energy, agriculture, irrigation, infrastructure and security, and not being limited to marketing weapons, and containing the increasing Iranian role in these countries.

It is possible to talk about a number of factors that contributed significantly to Israel's strong return to the countries of the Horn of Africa, and the beginning of what Israel called the "Israeli Spring" in this region.

The Israeli interest was reflected in attaching to all official Israeli political visits to African countries in general, and the Horn of Africa in particular, large delegations of experts, political, military and security advisers, a large number of traders, representatives of factories, industries and major Israeli companies, in addition to retired security and military officers. This confirms that Israel, which is built on two pillars: the army and security, intensifies its military and intelligence efforts in the countries of the Horn of Africa, for considerations related to its national security.
