Al-Buqa'i served as the Program Officer for Public Diplomacy in the Middle and Near East Department of the U.S. Department of State's Academy of Diplomats; and was awarded the Department of State's Appreciation Award for her role in developing and composing the Program for Public Diplomacy for the Middle East.

Al-Buqa'i is the author of "The Third Fear" on the issues of Arab emancipation and the international community's interaction with the events of the Arab Spring, and "Churchill, Bourguiba and Trump".
